HELENA - Sylvia E. Shell, age 91, of Helena, Ala., formerly of Aliceville, Ala., died July 9, 2016, at Chandler Health & Rehab in Alabaster, Ala. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Helena with Rev. Dr. Greg Walker and Rev. Morgan Bailey officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery in Jay, Fla. The body will lie in state one hour prior services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. J. C. Shell; her parents; and two sisters, Earline Shell and Sue duPont.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Shell (Sandra) of Helena, Ala., Gary Shell (Nevalene) of Wichita Falls, Texas and Ronnie Shell of Enterprise, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Jennifer, Chris, Timothy, Matthew, Kimberly and Amanda; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Shell was born September 19, 1924 in Blount County, Alabama to the late Tillie Ashworth and Gordie Malone Ashworth.
