Obituary

CARROLLTON – Ted Copland, age 67, of Carrollton, Ala., died March 8, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Pickens Academy with Rev. Woody Jones and Rev. Alicia Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Pickens Academy Auditorium.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Estano Copland; daughter, Kim Copland (Trint Watkins); sons, Teddy Copland and Woody Jones (Rene); sisters, Diane Morse (David) and Suzanne Atkinson; brother, Bill Atkinson; step father, John Atkinson; four grandchildren, Skyler, Ashlyn, Lilly and Alex; and a number of nieces and nephews.Ted was born August 29, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia to the late William Daniel Copland and Sarah Ann Bolling Copland Atkinson. He was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church, a former coach and well-known resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be Brach White, Wade Goodman, Josh Thacker, Jamie Parker, Pete Johnson, Dale Joyner, Ralph Flourney, Bobby Spurgeon and Jack Cook.Honorary pallbearers are Cornelia Johnson Smith, Owen and Aiden Johnson, Dr. Mohammad Azam, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center staff, Pickens Academy family and staff of Alabama Legion Boys State at Pickens Academy. The family gladly accepts flowers and suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid South Division, PO Box 59180 Homewood, AL 35259
