Terry Layne Koon, age 72, of Gordo, AL passed away July 17, 2026 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 24, 2026 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic Rites. Burial will be in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Terry was born February 5th, 1954 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Clay Crawford Koon and Elease Montgomery Koon. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, retired from B. F. Goodrich and was a member of Gordo Masonic Lodge #564.

Terry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ritta Faye Smith Koon. Together they shared a lifetime of love and memories raising their children and doting on their grandchildren.

Following her passing, Terry would find love and companionship once more and remarried his longtime childhood friend, Clarissa Goodman Hannah Koon. In the final years of his life, he was blessed to expand his heart and family to include her children and grandchildren from her own beautiful 44 year marriage to the late Larry Hannah.

Terry was a man who loved unconditionally, building two beautiful families over the course of his lifetime, and because of that he will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through them.

He is survived by his wife, Clarissa Goodman Hannah Koon; daughter, Jessica Koon Sexton and husband, Randall; son, Lance Koon and wife, Katlin; daughter, Crystal Hannah Riter and husband, Jeremy and 6 grandchildren, Kierston Franklin, Abigail Sexton, Cameron Sexton, Maddox Bo Koon, Preston Riter, and Harper Riter.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Sullivan, Will Elmore, Gordo Masonic Lodge #564, Tony Skelton, Dale Lancaster, Dudley Williams, Frankie Cabiness, Brett Turner, and Chance Draper.
