Thurmon Jerry Taunton, age 70, of Gordo, AL died December 4, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services were 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Dean and Bro. Korey Kizziah officiating. Burial followed in Big Hill Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation was one hour prior and after the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Robert Taunton and Jerry Taunton; sister, Martha Barkley and brothers, Charles Taunton and Gary Taunton.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Smith Taunton; daughters Tabitha Shultz (Brian) and Cindy Clark (Michael); son, Lonnie Edwards (Wendy); three sisters, Brenda Hobbs (Earl); Linda Carman (Dan); Wanda Ussery (Randy); two brothers, Cecil Taunton (Gail) and Hallie Taunton; seven grandchildren, Madeline Weaver; Abby Molina (Alvaro); William Weaver; Jay Burton (Liz), Nikki Barrett (Michael), Jonah and Noah and great-grandchildren, Riley, Hunter, Will, Justin, Summer.
Mr. Taunton was born March 15, 1949 in Taylor County, Georgia to the late Jack Dempsey Taunton and Leola Peacock Taunton. He was a former farmer for Jerry Albritton Farms.
Pallbearers were Darrell Taunton, Earl Hobbs, Michael Clark, Michael Barrett, Jay Burton and Jerry McCool.
Honorary Pallbearers were Hallie Taunton and Cecil Taunton.
