Timothy Craig Gates
Timothy 'Timmy' Craig Gates, age 55, of Carrollton, AL died Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family encourages masks be worn at the service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Gates Sr.; sister, Theresa Gates; and his special uncle and aunt, Owen and Ruth Gates.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Gates; son, Wesley Gates (Torrie); daughters, Haley Gates (Clark Alves) and Hannah Gates (Jacob Price); brothers, Earl Gates and Ken Gates; sister, Ginger Lewis (Jeff); one granddaughter, Kinzley, and numerous nieces and nephews who he adored like his own children.
Timmy was born February 4, 1965 in Pickens County to Lucy Stephens Gates and the late Earl Pleasant Gates. He was a graduate of Pickens Academy in the Class of 1983 and completed an Associates degree in business management from Shelton State Community College. He had a passion for farming and began working with his Uncle Owen at a young age on the family farm. This grew into a career raising swine for Prestage Farms that spanned more than two decades. He ran a successful business, Gates Lodge, with his Uncle Owen and brother, Ken Gates. Most recently, he spent his time operating Tem's Food Market in Brooksville, MS. He was a member and deacon at Aliceville First Baptist Church and served on numerous boards and committees.
Pallbearers will be John Cameron, Kevin Cummings, Chad Britt, Mark Gilliam, Tony Fuller, Joe Pogue, John Pearson, Eric Smith, Jay Parker, Teddy Ezelle, Barrett Noland, Randy Johns, Booty Cox, Brad Seymer, Ted Ezelle, Howard Edwards, Keith Elmore, Jim Henders, Johnny Colvin, and William Acker.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Judson College, 302 Bibb St, Marion, AL 36756, or the agricultural charity of their choice.
