Obituary

CARROLLTON – William Thomas "Tom" Halbert, age 88, of Carrollton, Ala., died October 28, 2016, at Pickens County Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, at Carrollton Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Winders and Rev. Shawn McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Haiston Halbert, Jr.; daughter, Connie Cameron; and son, Ben McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Judy McDaniel Halbert; daughters, Linda M. Borque (David) and Kim M. Hollis (Aaron); sisters, Kattie Patterson (Jack), Alice Denton and Helen Brown (Sandy); grandchildren, Shawn McDaniel (April), Michael Strawn (Lauren), Bryan McDaniel (friend, Debbie Harcrow), Dillian McDaniel (Lauren), Lucas McDaniel, Susan LaGrone ( Doug), Blake Hollis and Brandon Hollis; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Eli McDaniel, Cambry and Charli McDaniel, Christan and Cameron LaGrone, Libby Strawn and Bryleigh McDaniel.
William Thomas "Tom" Halbert was born April 19, 1928, in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Robert Haiston Halbert Sr. and Carine Ellis Halbert. He was a graduate of Lee High School in Columbus, Mississippi and also a graduate of The School of Business and Industry Banking and Finance where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.
Mr. Halbert was retired as an auditor for Tri-County Corporation for Alabama and Mississippi. He also was a salesman for Mitchell Steel Building in Columbus, Miss. Tom also served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Carrollton Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Billy Carr, Hillary Russell, Bobby Shields, Buddy Kirk, Charles Ashcraft and Brock White.
Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Noland, Morris Tilley, Carl Russell, Aaron Hamilton, Jamie Harvey, Jackie Richardson, Millard Latham and Allen McCrary.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in memory of Tom go to Carrollton Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, P. O. Box 457 Carrollton, AL. 35447.
