October 25, 1948 – August 25, 2024
John Thomas Johnson (Tommy), age 75, of Aliceville, went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of August 25, 2024, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at West End Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. All friends are welcome, as we come together to remember Tommy and celebrate his home-going. Visitation will be immediately following the service at the church.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Etta Oree Johnson; his wife, Judith Lane Comer-Johnson; his son, James Keith Johnson (US Navy); his brother, James "Buddy" Johnson (US Army); his sister, Gloria "Midget" Jones and his grandson, Adam Bryant Bailey.
Survivors include his son, Jeffery Thomas Johnson of Aliceville; his daughter, Jana Louise Johnson-Bailey of Pickensville; his brother, Richard L. "Ricky" Johnson (Sarah Elisabeth) of Aliceville; his beloved sister, Elizabeth "Beth" Stewart of Foley, Alabama; his grandchildren, Cassie Lee Morrison (Kyle) of Northport, Zachary T. Johnson (Taylor) of Sapps, Emily Megan Johnson of Columbus, Mississippi, and his great-grandchildren, Jack Morrison of Northport, and James Johnson of Sapps. Tommy will be greatly missed by his Family and a host of friends. Tommy was a graduate of the Aliceville High School Class of 1966 and a member of the West End Baptist Church of Aliceville. He was a loving Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was also a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.
During his life, Tommy worked at General Tire (Columbus, Mississippi), Lewis Brothers Lumber Company (Aliceville), Buchanan Veneer Mill (Aliceville), as a Dredger, Leverman, and Welder for the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway (Mississippi and Arkansas), and as a Manager at Aliceville Cotton Mill (Aliceville) and Recticel North America (Northport).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35404.
