TUSCALOOSA – Victor J. "Vic" Parker, Jr. was born September 30, 1955 in Mobile and died June 4, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church Chapel, 1121 Paul W. Bryant Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 with Rev. Joyce C. Snyder, Pastor of Reform First United Methodist Church officiating and Bonnie Windle and Michael Burkhalter assisting and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Joseph "Joe" Parker, Sr. of Mobile and stepfather, Richard Walters of Reform.Vic leaves surviving his daughter, Erica Parker Nicholson and husband, Wayne; two grandsons, Price and Pate Nicholson; his mother, Doris "Dot" Windle Walters; and numerous family members and friends.Vic became a believer in Jesus Christ recently and wanted to spend his remaining time growing in his relationship with the Lord. He appreciated in the last weeks his copy of the NIV Living with Cancer Bible which focuses on comfort to those who have cancer.He worked with CNC of Mobile evaluating car damage from hurricane and storm and traveled with this job from state to state. He used his valuable experience gained in earlier years in working with car dealerships to make evaluations of damage done.Vic always loved the water and caused many a scare as a small youngster with his swimming and diving. Growing up in Mobile and close to the Gulf of Mexico, he learned early to love the beach and water there and enjoyed family camping trips to the beach at Gulf Shores. In later years, this love of water turned to boats and sailing. In addition to water recreation, he loved recreational vehicles and guns and target practice.Holidays were special during his childhood years. With a large number of cousins near his age, they made a ballfield out of the front yard at Granny Windle's.Vic loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandsons, Price and Pate Nicholson. They called him "G Paw'' and looked forward to his visits. He shared his love of water with them.The family extends grateful thanks to those who have shown love and concern to Vic and to the family during these last days.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. -
