Virginia Lee “Genny” Geer Branyon, age 87, of Gordo, AL died June 8, 2026 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Cornerstone Church in Gordo with Bro. Herbby Geer officiating. Burial will be in Gordo City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther Stanford Branyon and son–in-law, Garry Guy.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Guy, Martha Junkin (Stevie) and Mary McAteer (Toby); son, Larry Branyon (Donna); brother, Herbert Lee “Herbby” Geer, Jr. (Anne); sisters, Faye Elmore (David) and Ann Moorehead (Ronnie); ten grandchildren, April Shoults (Eric), Alison Wheatley (Josh), Leslie Branyon, Blake McAteer (Emily), Matt Junkin, Luke Junkin (Kayla), Brian McAteer (Lexi), Austin Guy (Katie), Anna Roland (Tyler) and Bo McAteer (Megan); fifteen great-grandchildren, Ellis, Cora, Graydon, Levi, Lenny, Ellie, Avery, Addyson, Willow, Cohen, Tyson, Maddie Faith, Eli, Aiden and Harper plus baby girl due in July and a number of nieces and nephews.

Genny was born April 24, 1939 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Herbert Lee Geer, Sr. and Martha Virginia Locke Geer. She was a member of Cornerstone Church and a retired Administration Assistant at the University of Alabama.

Her grandsons will serve at Pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers are employees of Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. John Summerford and Dr. John Crew.
