Virginia Nell Gibson, age 76, of Aliceville, AL passed away December 13, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Aliceville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gene Lankford officiating.  Burial will be in Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.  Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anne Chafin Baker and Blanch Ewing; brothers, Perry Long, Harold Long and Winston "Whimp" Long and grandson, J. R. Gibson.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Elton Gibson; two sons, Brad Gibson and wife, Kara and Ryan "Rudy" Gibson and wife Kimberly; granddaughter, Lilly Gibson and grandsons, Levi Gibson and Cade Gibson, two sisters, Sue Sanders and Nancy Garnand.
Nell was born November 3, 1948 in Macon, Mississippi to the late Winston Long and Nannie Smith Long.  She was a graduate of Aliceville High School and Shelton State Community College, a member of Aliceville First United Methodist Church and a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gibson, Chris Gibson, Cory Gibson, Clark Gibson, Cole Gibson, Levi Gibson, Cade Gibson, Richard Long, Dan Garnand and Todd Long.
Honorary Pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, members of Aliceville First United Methodist Church, Dr. Jay Parker, Gregg and Jennifer Carr, Jim and Adam Johnson, Max Allen and Marilyn McBride.
