CARROLTON – Virginia Acker Noland, age 86, died March 1, 2017 at her son's residence. Services will be 11 a.m. March 3, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Pickensville with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior and immediately following service at the lunch.She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Adylise Hedrick, Magnolia Clay, Fannie Harris and Noran Black; brothers, Walter Acker, William Acker and Andrew Acker.Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Gilbert Chalmers Noland of Carrolton, Ala.; daughters, Susan Pate of Carrollton, Ala., Ginger Harless of Coker, Ala.; sons, Billy Noland of Laurel, Miss., John T. Noland of Gadsden, Ala.; sister, Mary White of Louisville, Miss.; brother, Alfred Acker of Carrollton, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Mrs. Noland was born October 12, 1930 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Tom Acker and Tamsel Cook Acker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pickensville, a retired seamstress for Stevens Fashions and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
