ALICEVILLE | Virginia "Jenny" Stephens Wright, age 83, of Aliceville, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at home. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Aliceville with Dr. Thomas G. Kay, Jr. officiating. A 2:30 p.m. graveside service will follow at Forkland United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Thomas G. Kay, Jr. officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the home of Andy Wright in Aliceville. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Andrew Wright, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Wright Lavender (Lawrence); son, Andrew Wright III (Rita); grandchildren, Matthew Lawrence Lavender (Angela), Daniel Lee Lavender (Lacy), Abigail Lynne Wright, Katherine Wright Gamble (Ross), Andrew Heath Lavender (Katherine), Rita Cecil Wright King (Hobie), and Virginia Carol Wright; four great-great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Jenny was born March 13, 1931 in Greene County, Alabama to the late David and Pearl Stephens and graduated from Greene County High in 1951. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to fish and watch Alabama football with her husband and friends. Jenny was always welcoming to any who came across her path. She will be missed.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Lavender, Daniel Lavender, Heith Lavender, Webb Lavender, Lamont Lavender and Doug Lavender.
