GORDO – Walker S. K. Cowart, Jr., age 66, of Gordo, Ala., died October 13, 2017, at DCH Regional Medical Center. A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Reform with Rev. Dan Kilgore officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Curtis Stucki.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Gay Cowart; daughter, Katie Cowart Porter and husband, Brian; son, Walker S. K. "Sparky" Cowart III and wife, Kimberly; sisters, Sarah Alice Shore (Bill), Linda Frances Metnetsky (Herman), Elizabeth Ross Stucki, Shirley Wilson Ammons (Robert) and Ellen Nora Horton (Allen); grandson, Thomas Walker Porter; and step-grandchildren, Corey Porter and Drew Porter. Mother in law: Jean Gay Cherry, Brother in law: David Gay ( Judy).
Walker was born March 1, 1951 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Walker S. K. Cowart, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Ross Cowart. He was a retired engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Shane Harris, Jake Wood, Claude Edwards, Gary Guy, Ross Shore and Chad Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers are David Gay, special friend Scott Guy, Benevola friends and neighbors and Pickens County High School Class of 1969.
