GORDO | Walter Lee Junkin, age 84, of Gordo, died November 24, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Tony Burns officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lee "Ronny" Junkin; his parents; brother, Eustace Junkin; and two sisters, Eunice Bobo and Bernice Connell.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Lee Junkin of Gordo, Ala.; sons, Randy Junkin (Donna) of Gordo, Ala., Ricky Junkin (Karen) of Raleigh, N.C., and Rodney Junkin (Denise) of Gordo, Ala.; sister, Faye Connell of Gordo, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Tyler Junkin, Allison Junkin Plowman (Jerry), Megan Junkin Templeton (Bryan), Josh Junkin, Haleigh Junkin, Kyle Junkin, Nicholas Junkin and Anna Junkin; two great-grandchildren, Kylee Templeton and Trinity Templeton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Junkin was born May 19, 1930 in Gordo, Alabama to the late George Junkin and Giller Hannah Junkin. He was a member of the Baptist faith, a retired construction foreman, a veteran of the U. S. Army and a lifelong resident of Pickens County.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Junkin, Josh Junkin, Rodger Connell, Lewis Bobo, James Junkin, Jacob Burns, Tommy Connell and Harold Connell.
