ALICEVILLE - William David ""Billy"" Thomas, age 78, of Aliceville, Ala., died June 3, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Aliceville with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight, June 5, 2018, at Dogwood Chapel, 200 5th St. NE in Aliceville.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Lee Thomas; daughter, Nikkie Thomas Downing; son, Cheno J. Thomas; sister, Jackie DeOrnellas (David); brother, Jimmy Thomas (Nancy); two grandchildren, Cody Downing and Cheyenne Glosson (Kelly); three great-grandchildren, Emaleigh, Ryder and Teagan Glosson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Billy was born June 14, 1939 in Walthall County, Mississippi to the late J.D. Thomas and Lois Turnage Thomas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Aliceville, a retired inspector and navigator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Pallbearers will be Willie Wilson, Don Wilburn, Joe B. Lewis, Joe Wood, David Gentry and Jeff Seymer.
Honorary pallbearers are Jack Marine and Joe Beasley.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Aliceville, 323 Broad Street, Aliceville, AL 35442.
