ETHELSVILLE | William Edward "Ed" Hudson, age 93, of Ethelsville, died December 31, 2015, at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Ethelsville Baptist Church with Bro. Russell Brown and Bro. Tim Meherg officiating. Burial will follow in Ethelsville Community Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepsons, Jim Brownlee and Roy Brownlee; brothers, Robert Hudson and John Hudson; and sister, Mildred Jaynes.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Boots" Hudson; sons, William Don Hudson (Jan) and James Terry Hudson; stepdaughter, Renee Brownlee Cabiness (Ronnie); step daughter-in-law, Rose Brownlee; eight grandchildren, Shawn Hudson (Christy), Chris Hudson (Chrissy), Angie Cox (Andrew), Matthew Hudson, Jonathan Hudson (Kimberly), Nicole Brasfield (William), Taylor Cabiness and Beth Brownlee; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ed was born September 4, 1922 in Canton, Mississippi to the late Bob Hudson and Willie Foster Hudson. He was a member of Ethelsville Baptist Church, a retired employee of Southern Natural Gas, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a well-known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Joey Brown, Mike Brown, Mike Hancock, Danny Malone, Joe Ables and Earl Lancaster.
Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Lee Richardson, employees of Southern Natural Gas, Golden Triangle Family Medical, employees of Windsor Place and special caregivers, Shanika Prowell and Dana Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Ethelsville Baptist Church General Fund, 231 Main Street, Ethelsville, AL 35461.
