CARROLLTON | William "Bill" McGee, age 56, of Carrollton, died November 28, 2014, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014, at Carrollton Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Winders, Rev. Larry Potts and Rev. Shawn McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy McGee; grandparents, Prude and Bessie McGee and Phillip and Nellie Albright; and father-in-law, Billy Acker. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sharon Acker McGee; sons, Dustin William McGee and John Caleb McGee; mother, Melba Albright McGee; brothers, John McGee (Sherry), Mike McGee, Todd McGee and Jody McGee (Ashley); mother-in-law, Margaret Acker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Teresa Barnett, Ken and Pam Acker, and Mike and LuAnn Acker; nieces and nephews, Kristen Robbins (Greg), Katie McGee, Houston Norris, Colby McGee, Ethan Gracie, Will and Mary Reece McGee, John Henry Robbins, Shannon Lilienthal (Morris), Jessica Pippen (Luther), April McDaniel (Shawn), Lauren Barnett, Luke, Alaina, Hannah and Jacob Acker and two special people in his life: Haley and Hudson. William "Bill" McGee was born on July 14, 1958 to Melba Albright McGee and the late Billy McGee in Pickens County, Alabama. He was a lifetime resident of Carrollton, Alabama and a graduate of Carrollton High School, Class of 1976. Bill was married to the love of his life, Sharon, on November 29, 1980. The joys of his life were his two sons, Dustin and Caleb. He was a longtime part of McGee Lumber Company where he took great pride working as long as he was able to. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nothing more than hunting and fishing with his two sons. Bill's favorite pastime was gardening throughout the spring and summer months each year. He also enjoyed his Sunday School Class at Carrollton Baptist Church when he was able to go. A family man he was; he loved spending time with family and friends at his home in his shed or long days at the beach. Bill was always known for his sense of humor, strong work ethic, and his love for life. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to say a special thank you to Paul "Doobie" Clay for his unconditional care and friendship, Sharon and the boys are forever grateful and blessed for Doobie also, to Larry "Skull" Skelton for your friendship and help. To his sweet "lovies" at the Cancer Center for the unconditional love and care of his sweet nurses, you will always be remembered and appreciated. To the Cancer Center and the many doctors and nurses Bill had and also to the Hospice of West Alabama for their gracious care and hospitality. Pallbearers will be Paul Clay, Larry Skelton, Eric Reynolds, Hal McGee, William Yerby, William Acker, Kenneth Acker, Chad Britt, Bobby Brock and Greg Acker.
