Willie Ruth Whitten, age 92, of Columbus, MS passed away August 16, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Private graveside services will be held in Ethelsville Community Cemetery with Rev. Mel Howton officiating and Skelton Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitten; son, James Edward Whitten; grandson, J. J. Whitten; daughter-in-law, Winna Whitten and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Earnest Whitten; daughter-in-law, Angie Whitten; sister, Mary Gladys McDonald; three grandchildren, Patton Whitten (Christi), Salethia Holifield (Chris) and Drew Whitten (Ashley); eight great-grandchildren, Austin Whitten (Courtney), Callop Whitten (Miranda), Dalton Whitten, Dakota Hill, Preston Whitten, Brooklyn Holifield, Jackson Holifield and Caris Whitten
two great- great grandchildren, Tynley Whitten and Zoey Whitten and a number of nieces and nephews.
Willie Ruth was born June 18, 1928 in Alabama to the late Clifton Henderson and Willie Holmes Henderson. She was a homemaker and a member of Ethelsville Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Ethelsville Baptist Church, 230 Main Street, Ethelsville, AL 35461.
