It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Winford Eugene Bearden on December 24, 2023. Winford, born on October 26, 1943, died peacefully at home in Birmingham surrounded by his family.
Winford's life was marked by a series of remarkable achievements and a steadfast commitment to service. After graduating from high school in 1961, he dedicated a portion of his life to the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country.
Following his military service, Winford pursued higher education and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in chemical engineering. His insatiable curiosity and passion for learning led him to the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he earned
his medical degree in 1974.
Winford's professional journey was marked by dedication and compassion. From 1976 to 2013, he served the Princeton Baptist Hospital community with distinction. He was extremely proud of the thousands of babies he delivered during his career. His contributions as a healthcare professional touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he cared for and worked alongside.
Winford loved the Lord. He joined Shades Mountain Baptist Church in 1977 and remained a faithful member throughout his life.
A devoted family man, Winford is survived by his son, Gregory Lee Bearden (Lindsay), his daughter, Amy Marie Takacs (Timothy) and four grandchildren, Zachary Graham Takacs, Margaret Caroline Bearden, Samuel Blaine Bearden, and Harper Anne Takacs.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Bearden, of forty-eight years. Winford's devotion to his family was unwavering, and his legacy lives on through the love and bonds he fostered.
A graveside service to honor Winford's life will be held at 11:00 am on December 29, 2023 at Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Gordo, AL with Danny Woods officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am in the church. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance, finding solace in the shared memories of a life well-lived.
